LITTER D - NYX

Adopted by Ms J & Mr T

Nyx was adopted from @cuddlemuffins , an excellent friend and a loving pet mum.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
We came across CuddleMuffins in our earlier days on pawstagram. I had a few conversations about how ethical breeding in Singapore is non-existent; and a friend, as well as a known ethical breeder from Netherlands, pointed me towards CM. Initially, I was cautious, seeing as to how most Singaporean breeders are generally just money hungry robots, but after striking up a conversation with CM, i could tell that she was very different. Not only was she very generous in sharing about her knowledge and experience, but i could tell that she loves her hamsters a lot. Which breeder will reach out to individual adopters and get updates regularly?⁣⁣
⁣⁣
After a month or two, i learnt that she had a new litter! At that point of time, we were already preparing to adopt one more hamster; the only thing setting us back THAT CONNECTION we were looking for. I was actually on the lookout for a rescue, but hamdad was drawn in to a specific hamster in her litter. We decided to speak to CM about it and she was actually quite stringent with her screening. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I would actually say that I was quite stressed out by it, because she really wanted to make sure that we were adopting for the right purposes, that we were not just interested in a "baby hamster", or we were some narcissistic a$$holes looking to breed her hamsters. She also made sure that the personality of the hamster we were looking to adopt was the right fit for us, which was super meticulous on her part, because what if somebody decides that the hamster was not the right fit and returns (or worse abandons) them? (this happened before apparently). In the end, we adopted Oogie (then known as Moscow) and we loved him to bits, albeit the short time he spent with us. He was honestly, just the best fit to our family, and was just the sweetest, smartest, and cuddliest boy ever.

You could honestly just tell from his temperament, coat, and size, that he was a hamster bred out of love, and not out of some sick money-making scheme. In fact, CM has never once asked for a SINGLE CENT from us; all she asked was for us to send her regular updates of Oogie, and for us to love him with all our heart.

Even after Oogie passed, she still gave us unconditional support, and we striked up a friendship, where i was even clearer about her passion for bettering hamster genetics and spreading the knowledge of ethically breeding hamsters and advocating for proper hamster care. We are lucky and honoured that she chose us to care for Nyx, despite what happened with Oogie.

If you ever had doubts about Cuddlemuffins and her intentions, you have my assurance that she is not UNETHICAL in any sense. If she would, she WILL MOST DEFINITELY KEEP ALL HER HAMSTERS and choose to not give them up to anyone. The only reason she is breeding, is her mission to better the hamster genepool in Singapore, which is honestly filled with health issues and bad temperament due to years of inbreeding. Her hamsters are kept in above minimum enclosures, fed with nutritionally balanced food, and given all the love that she could ever possibly give. And i am also speaking even about the ones who have been adopted. There is not a day where she doesn't ask about Nyx.
