HOUSING

Acrylic Enclosures

All permanent residents at Eldduc resides in customised acrylic enclosures measuring above 630 sq in of floor space.

​

Though bar cages are better ventilated than acrylic, we converted to acrylic due to the following reasons:

• Injuries sustained from bar chewing - Our dear Ospalý suffered a bar chewing incident that led to lifelong damage in both his top and bottom incisors and as understood from research and vets, such incidents are not uncommon.

• Acrylic is less fragile than glass tanks.

However, for the sick and nursing mothers, we have smaller housing available to cater to individual needs. For those, we recommend cages for better ventilation or bins such as IKEA SAMLA 130L.

Our favourite is the 12" Glow in the Dark Silent Runner from Exotic Nutrition. We are currently using the following wheels:

FOOD & NUTRITION

Due to the rising awareness linking food colorants and sunflower seeds to cancer, many pet owners around the world has taken up mixing their own homemade mix as oppose to commercial mixes. 

At Eldduc Hamstery, we strive to provide the healthiest available and current our organic homemade mix is supplied by our dear friend, Fatpouches.

As a rule of thumb, we follow the below Guaranteed Analysis levels extracted from Hamster Hideout:

< 6months
protein 20-24%, fibre 6-15%, fat 4-7%

> 6months - 18 months
protein 17-19%, fibre 6-15%, fat 4-7%

>18months
protein 15%, fibre 12-15%, fat 6-7%

Our hamsters are also fed fresh food daily.

We offer a variety of vegetables, fruits and meat such as boiled chicken breast, salmon, or eggs.

Daily Bonding

Most of our hamsters are handled on a daily basis. From time to time, they free roam in the room whilst they mainly roam on the couch or in the playpen.

Our daily checks and weighing are being tracked so as to take notice on any illnesses or ailments.
